As a precision machining company that has grown steadily over the years, we understand firsthand that growth can create as many challenges as opportunities. With more customers, more equipment, more team members, and more technologies, these factors can quickly create complexity if the underlying systems aren’t prepared to support them.
At Ricaurte Precision Inc. (RPI), we’ve built a resilient manufacturing company that is equipped to support our customers today and adapt as their needs evolve. That has required us to continually invest in our people, processes, technology, and equipment, and make sure those investments work together.
True Growth Requires a Strong Foundation
RPI began as a family business, but our approach to the future has evolved significantly. As the company entered its second generation, the focus shifted toward building a more scalable organization. That meant bringing in the right people and developing efficient and repeatable processes.
Our people and processes represent the true foundation of smart growth at RPI. New technology and equipment add to our capabilities and capacity, but they are only as effective as the individuals and systems supporting them.
Technology Is Most Effective When the Processes Behind It Are Ready
There’s always a temptation in manufacturing to chase the newest technology. That’s why we ask ourselves a simple question when we’re considering a new investment: What problem are we trying to solve, and will this investment make us better positioned for the future?
Before implementing new software and technologies, such as a new ERP or quality system, we consider how they fit into our existing operations and where additional capacity or redundancy could create value. Most importantly, we think carefully about what our customers need.
Investing Strategically by Evaluating Future Customer Requirements
RPI’s approach to capital equipment follows the same philosophy. When purchasing new equipment, we evaluate our customers’ requirements, future demand, capacity constraints, and where redundancy could strengthen our organization. This approach ensures we make investments that serve meaningful purposes.
Automation, for example, has become increasingly important to our strategy. The ability to automate processes can improve consistency and free up our teams to focus on higher-value work. That said, automation is most effective when it’s supported by strong processes and knowledgeable employees.
Customer Partnerships Shape Our Growth
Smart and strategic growth also requires understanding where customers are going. We want to know what our customers need today, but we also want to understand what they’re working toward several years from now.
One of our customers may need help solving an immediate capacity problem. Another may be developing prototypes that will ultimately move into production programs. Another may need a structured supply arrangement as demand increases on their end.
Understanding each of those trajectories allows us to adapt our unique approach.
RPI Is a Proud Contract Manufacturer Prepared for the Long Term
Smart growth is just that: strategic and intentional. It’s about building an organization that is more resilient and better prepared for what comes next.
That means:
- Making thoughtful investments in equipment and technology
- Developing our people
- Strengthening our processes
- Understanding our customers’ short- and long-term goals
- Continuously looking for opportunities to improve
We’re evolving intentionally, building an organization with our finger on the pulse of our rapidly changing industry and the diverse needs of our customer base. That way, RPI can continue to be a manufacturing partner that our customers can rely on today and years into the future.
