Machine Spotlight: Matsuura MAM72-35V for Efficient 5-Axis Milling

matsuura-mam72-35v milling cnc machine

The Matsuura MAM72- 35V 5-Axis Vertical Machining Center is a versatile machine that can operate unmanned for long periods with high precision. This is ideal for the production of parts ranging from very small to very large with automated, repeated accuracy. It offers higher efficiency and improved workability.

Matsuura MAM72-35V Overview

As a 5-axis CNC machine, the Matsuura MAM72-35V can remove material and contour from five sides of the part. All with a tolerance of +/- 0.0002″ (0.0051mm).

Here are some of its highlighted features:

Pallet System

Fixtures and tools can reside on the 32-pallet system. This pallet system allows unattended automated fabrication. Perfect for just-in-time (JIT) fabrication, thereby mitigating unnecessary inventory.

Orbiting System

Ricaurte Precision’s workhorse MAM72-35V machine has orbital cutting capabilities. For example, this can be used for machining round posts on your parts.

Loading Capacity

With a loading capacity of 132 lbs (60 kg), enough material can be loaded to enable hours of unattended operation — ideal for 24/7 lights-out production.

Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) and super-NURBS use a predetermined tolerance band on the tool path. As a result, the 5-axis machine creates a smoother tool path in 3D machining while maintaining the required tolerances.

Benefits of 5-Axis Machining for Production

The abilities of a 5-axis machine make it the best choice for producing parts that require accuracy (tight tolerances), machining curves, or irregular shapes on more than the basic 3-axis. It can also reduce production costs by improving efficiency.

Many industries rely on 5-axis machines for their precision parts, including aerospace, medical, and automotive.

The Matsuura MAM72- 35V 5-Axis milling machine is only one of several machine types at Ricaurte Precision. We have been making precision parts for clients in various industries since 1986.
